Madera

A tight-knit community and rapidly growing city

Welcome to Madera

Located within 90 minutes of Yosemite National Park and just minutes away from Fresno, it’s no surprise that the Madera real estate market is growing at a rapid pace.  Known for its acclaimed wines and rich history, Madera was founded during the California Gold Rush. California Lumber Company’s interest in the area led to its expansion in 1876, and the city’s name derives from the Spanish word Madera, meaning lumber.

Although Madera has been around for over a century, the city has remained a relatively small town. The current population is just below 70,000 residents, which is preferred for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of a big city. Madera has a perfect mix of multiple-acre properties and traditional single-family housing. If you need a little extra space around you but need the amenities of a larger city close by, Madera could be the perfect place to call home.
